Teachers Tour Open House at Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company
Kim Carson, Academic Director
On October 22, 2014 and February 25, 2015 a group of our teachers took advantage of the Open Houses offered by the Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company in Crofton, Maryland. This locally owned coffee company aims to offer great coffee and support the health of the bay through its H2O Initiative, a community outreach program established “to advocate [for] the protection and preservation of our most precious natural resource – water. CBRC is pledging to donate 2 percent of its annual coffee in support of organizations that are helping to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. They are supporting the Oyster Recovery Partnership, which St. Martin’s is working with through its Environmental Stewardship Program. As a school, we are now buying some of our coffee from the Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company. They have recyclable burlap bags, which we are looking to repurpose. One is now on display in our Spanish room.
