Objective:
Students will be able to identify the characteristics that animals need to survive the winter. They will learn the terms migrate, hibernate, and adapt.
Essential Questions:
· How do animals survive during the season of winter?
· What animals do we see in our community during the winter?
· What can we do to help these winter animals?
Material:
Science: The season of winter and how animals survive. The focus is on migration and adaptation.
Activity:
Make bird feeders to help winter animals in our area adapt.
Assessment/Celebration:
Children will list what animals need to survive in winter and answer questions on the meanings of migration and adaptation.

• Scholastic News
• Nature videos on hibernation, migration, and adaptation
• Internet research
