Objective: Students will identify actions and words in the Bible that show connection to and responsibility for the earth and other parts of creation.
Essential Questions: In the Judeo-Christian tradition, is there a human responsibility for taking care of creation and other living beings? If so, can you list three specific responsibilities for care?
Material: The Bible. Pen or pencil and paper or an IPad or laptop. Poster board, markers, colored paper.
Subjects Covered/Skills: Familiarity with books of the Bible. Critical thinking about Biblical texts. Connecting values in Holy Scripture with everyday life.
Activity: Read Genesis 1:1-31. Leviticus 25:1-12, 18, 23. 26:3-6, 9. Mark 2: 23-27. Acts 10:9-15. Matthew 10:29-31. 14:13-21.
Assessment/Celebration: Students will create posters that show three ways of caring for our environment that are rooted in Holy Scripture.
